Does the world fear the vagina?

I don’t know what it has been like in other parts of the world, but right here in Australia I’ve been feeling a swing against respect for women and equality. It’s firing up my inner feminist to the point that I can’t help but make light of it wherever I see it. But rather than spread the message with anger, blame and shame, I am trying a different tack. I just want to say that I love the vagina, it is beautiful and powerful and I have great respect for it. It disheartens me when a female artist has been targeted for celebrating the vagina – an artist and crafter I much admire in my local area Casey Jenkins has had international ridicule for her Casting Off My Womb performance art piece. Here is another recent event in which artist Rokudenashiko has been targeted for celebrating the vagina.
